WhatsUp Gold 14.0 - Technical Preview Program
Ipswitch is proud to announce WhatsUp Gold 14.0!
In this release, we've focused on building
new features, responding to customer
requests, and improving the overall user
experience of WhatsUp Gold.
Here are some of the exciting new features
in WhatsUp Gold 14:
Alert Center
You've asked for the ability to alert on
performance data, and we've listened! With
Alert Center, you can configure thresholds
that alert on Performance, NetFlow and
Passive Monitor data.
Self Monitoring
As part of Alert Center, you can configure thresholds for monitoring aspects of the WhatsUp Gold application including Engine Polling, Database Performance, and Services.
Critical Monitors (Intra-device Dependencies)
Are you tired of being bombarded with multiple alerts from one device after it loses network connectivity? Well, you aren't alone. Many customers have requested the ability to make one monitor dependent on another monitor on the same device (such as making an HTTP monitor dependent on the Ping monitor) so that they don't get multiple alerts on the same device if network connectivity is lost.
The new Critical Monitor feature allows you to make one or more active monitors critical. If any of the critical active monitors report down during a poll, none of the non-critical active monitors are polled, and only the actions tied to the down critical monitor are triggered.
Critical Monitors
Improved Discovery
The Discovery engine has been completely redesigned to allow you to quickly and correctly discover the devices on your network. The improved Discovery engine can also automatically create and configure monitors based on the detailed information found during the discovery process.
Highlights include:
-
Speed
- Multi-threaded architecture allows the
Discovery engine to query devices in
parallel, and you can begin to work with
discovered device immediately, even
while discovery continues to find new
devices.
-
Accuracy
- New engine uses additional methods to
more accurately identify devices on your
network.
-
Device Roles
- Devices are configured based on
preconfigured and user-definable role
"templates.”.
-
Discovery from the Web Interface -
You can now discovery devices from
the web interface in the same way you
perform a discovery from the console
application.
- Customizable - You can create and customize device roles, which specify what monitors should be created by default on discovered devices of that role type.
